Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s annual Christmas card has been officially released by Kensington Palace after it was leaked online.
The family of five chose to get into the festive spirit with co-ordinating Christmas jumpers.
In the image, which was captured by photographer Matt Porteous in the grounds of Anmer Hall, Kate wears a mulled-wine-hued jumper layered over a white shirt with a piecrust collar, while William opts for a khaki green knit and blue button-up.
The couple’s three children are also dressed in a palette of earthy tones that match the pile of logs stacked behind them. Prince George can be seen wearing a Regatta fleece and Prince Louis sits between his parents, beaming at the camera, in a navy knit and checked shirt.
However, it is Princess Charlotte that really steals the sartorial show. Here we discover where you can buy her outfit, and the similar styles that are currently available on the high street.
Princess Charlotte’s outfit
Sitting on her mother’s knee, the five-year-old can be seen sporting a stylish intarsia wool-blend knit by Ralph Lauren (£110, Ralph Lauren). The green moss jumper features a charming house and floral design, with mismatched buttons and puff sleeves.
The young royal’s look is completed with a pair of leggings, a white shirt and a mini version of her mother’s much-loved brown boots. The mini mid-calf tassel boots (£259, Penelope Chilvers) come courtesy of Penelope Chilvers, which recently launched kids’ sizes to match its adult offering. The Duchess has worn the same style regularly since she was a student at St Andrew's University.
While the boots are available to pre-order, Charlotte’s cosy sweater has sold out. If you want to recreate the look for your child, make sure to check back here for new stock, or take a look at our round-up of similar styles that you can buy on the high street right now.

Ralph Lauren logo Fair Isle wool jumper: £73.50, Ralph Lauren
If you’ve fallen head-over-heels for Charlotte’s Ralph Lauren jumper, you don’t need to look far for an almost identical version. Made by the same designer brand, this one has been categorised as a boy’s sweater, but we think it would look good on any child. With a heritage-inspired look, it is made from 100 per cent wool and features a classic fair isle pattern in colourful shades of orange, blue and red. Available in sizes 1.5 to six years, it is sure to leave you feeling Christmasy.
Russell & Bromley sherpa faux-shearling lined boot: £75, Russell & Bromley
Luxuriously cosy, this pair of boots promises to keep your little one warm and snug as the temperature drops. Crafted from brown calf leather, the boot sits mid-calf, just like the Penelope Chilvers version, and has been lined with a faux-shearling fabric for added comfort. Detailed with a contrast stitch and set on a cleated rubber sole, these boots are the perfect accessory to long wintery walks.
Zara jacquard knit sweater: £22.99, Zara
This sweet jumper by high street stalwart Zara will help set the scene for a magical festive season. Made from a wool blend, it features a ribbed neckline, cuffs and hem and is decorated with a retro-inspired jacquard print in red, blue and yellow, which contrasts brilliantly against the cream backdrop. Take your styling tips from the fashionable royal and layer this knit over a frill-collar shirt.
Dr Martens juney junior faux fur lined high boots: £80, Dr Martens
Made from traditional lightweight suede, with the added advantage of being water resistant, this pair of Dr Martens will do a great job of withstanding puddle-soaked pavements. The best part? They're lined with the brand’s fuzzy “warmwair” insulated lining, so your little one’s feet will feel cosy even on the harshest winter days. They’re available in sizes 10 to 3.
Bonpoint Fair Isle wool sweater: £172, Children’s salon
If you believe in buying better and less often, French fashion brand Bonpoint’s clothes are not only beautiful but made to last. Crafted from a mix of wool and angora, this luxury knit looks to be a great option for precious skin. We love the fun design, which features a gold jacquard cherry motif on the front and a lurex ribbed neckline, cuffs and hem. Colourful and stylish, it’s full of festive fun.
Zara leather boots with tassels: £59.99, Zara
These smart boots from Zara are made from 100 per cent leather and feature a tassel detail on the side, just like the pair Princess Charlotte and Kate wear. A boot built to keep tiny feet warm, they sit mid calf and have a chunky sole that will feel sturdy even when muddy grass is underfoot. Guaranteed to become a winter favourite, we think these would look just as good worn with denim jeans as a knitted dress and thick tights.
