Hands up if you’re missing your usual weekend brunch spot during lockdown? We certainly are. Previously the most Instagrammed meal on a Saturday and Sunday, our favourite mid-morning outing is now a distant memory.

But, breakfast fans can rejoice – recipe box service HelloFresh is once again offering its brunch box, designed with your lazy weekend in mind.

From sweet treats to savoury sensations, the recipes on offer include everything from pancakes with honey-roasted figs to chorizo shakshuka with feta and flatbreads. With ingredients arriving pre-portioned, it’s never been easier to do brunch at home.

The brand is the first recipe box to provide a DIY brunch kit, and it follows the positive reaction when it first served up breakfast as part of its extensive menu in April 2020.

For a limited time between 6 February and 5 March, you’ll be able to order one recipe per week. The price of each brunch starts at £8.99 for two people, which is considerably cheaper than visiting a café or restaurant. Plus, we think this is a great way to impress your loved one on Valentine’s Day

The full range includes chorizo shakshuka with feta and flatbreads; avocado and bacon on toast with a peanut and maple syrup buttermilk pancake; Mexican-style chorizo hash with refried beans, avocado, sour cream and fried eggs; eggs Florentine with mango granola parfait; and fig pancakes with honey-roasted fig.

If, like us, you’re often indecisive when it comes to picking your favourite from the menu, we’d recommend giving it some consideration sooner rather than later – all recipes must be ordered by 2 March, and we predict it’ll be particularly popular, so options may sell out fast.

If you’re new to the recipe box scene, be sure to read our review of the hugely popular subscription box and we’re sure you’ll be persuaded. Prepare for many eggceptional weekends ahead!

You can trust our independent round-ups. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing and expert advice. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.

Starting from just £5 a meal, HelloFresh is one of the best value and most convenient options if you’re looking for a food subscription service. For the uninitiated, the boxes arrive containing your chosen recipes, with all the ingredients pre-portioned, making it easy for you to knock up delicious meals.

Featuring in our guide to the best recipe boxes, our writer noted that it’s one of the best-thought-out services: “Pick a plan – family, classic or rapid – how many people you want it for and how many recipes you want a week, and away you go,” they said, adding that it’s “also one of the best value, with three recipes a week for two people ringing in at £5 a meal”.

“The company has dedicated itself to making wholesome homemade food accessible to all, which means that alongside keeping its meals affordable, it works hard to source produce from brilliant suppliers like The Tomato Stall on the Isle of Wight, or the Kepak beef farmers in Ireland."

As for the recipes, our reviewer said that “each one genuinely took 20 minutes and was super simple to follow: mushroom and chicken crumble, lamb linguine and vegetarian tacos with feta, mushroom and chipotle mayo”.

With such high praise, you can trust that the brand’s limited-edition brunch service will cater to your weekend needs, making it easy to cook up a delicious, restaurant-quality feast while stuck at home. If it were us, we’d opt for the fig pancakes and the Mexican style chorizo hash with refried beans.

Available from 6 February until 5 March, HelloFresh’s new boxes will help us see the sunny side of our lockdown weekends.
