From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s fashion choices have a remarkably influential effect, with much of her wardrobe – particularly pieces sourced from the high street – selling out within hours of her wearing them.

From a blue Boden cardigan to her surprisingly affordable necklace, Kate Middleton often opts for more budget-friendly items that won’t break the bank.

Even when she’s spotted wearing designer pieces, high street brands such as M&S are on hand to create dupes for keen shoppers.

Earlier this year the retailer launched a dress that looks very like the Duchess's Emilia Wickstead polka-dot number that she wore in July 2020.

During a visit to London Stadium in Stratford in February 2020 to meet athletes supported by the charity SportsAid, of which the Duchess is a patron, she was pictured wearing a pair of trainers with a rainbow detail, which were found to be from M&S, costing a thrifty £29.50.

We’ve got all the details on how to get your hands on them, whether you’re keen to mimic Kate Middleton’s style or you simply like the design.

Perfect for adding a pop of colour to your outfit without overpowering the rest of your clothes, these rainbow-striped trainers are a bit of fun and made from vegan-friendly materials.

They also have comfortable insoles made from M&S’s “insolia flex” technology, which has been endorsed by the UK College of Podiatrists, so you can be sure they’ll keep your feet comfortable.

Coming in sizes three to eight, with half sizes also available, the silver pair features a pastel palette, the white pair has kept to a monochromatic theme and the navy pair features a splash of silver sparkle. We’ll be pairing them with jeans, jumpsuits, midi dresses and skirts during spring and summer.
