Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. When attending a wedding pre-Covid, it was almost a given that you would spot at least one person wearing a Rixo dress. Since its launch in 2015, the British brand’s instantly recognisable vintage-inspired numbers have become the go-to for fashion-conscious wedding guests, offering everything from party-ready minis to chic midi dresses designed in timeless silhouettes and eye-catching floral prints.
But, not content with simply dressing invitees, Rixo has now set its sights on the bride too with the launch of its debut bridal range.

The 26-piece collection was designed with individualism at its core, as the brand’s founders, Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey, sought to cater to couples planning their big day amid the ongoing pandemic.
With this in mind, the range delivers styles suited to all brides, whether they’re holding out for a bigger celebration or opting for a more intimate ceremony.
More traditional bridal gowns feature striking details such as beautiful jacquard prints, lace inserts and silk buttons, while those looking to make more of a statement can choose between sleek separates, feather-trimmed mini dresses, jumpsuits and contemporary tailoring inspired by style icons such as Bianca Jagger and Kate Moss.
The collection is priced between £295 and £1,450, with accessories starting at just £75. In line with the label’s existing range, stock will be available in UK sizes 6 to 16 and a dedicated bridal boutique is set to open when government lockdown restrictions are eased.
In the meantime, the entire range is available to shop online now. But, as it’s limited-edition, we suggest acting quickly if you’re set to tie the knot in the coming months and want to get your hands on one of Rixo’s dreaming dresses. Here, we take a look at the top picks from the collection.
You can trust our independent round-ups. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections. This revenue helps us to fund journalism across The Independent.
Rixo yara embellished pearl headband: £75
A great hair accessory is vital to tying your bridal look together but not everyone wants to opt for a traditional veil. Whether you’re having a smaller civil ceremony or you’re simply on the hunt for a unique yet stylish alternative, we suggest picking up this beautiful pearl headband.
The piece is made using clusters of pretty ivory pearls that are gathered on top of a metal hairband, helping to keep your hair in place and serve as a statement finishing touch to your wedding day look.
Rixo lavina dot mesh long veil: £185
Minimalist brides searching for a simple yet elegant veil will love this classic style. Ideal for anyone who wants to complete their bridal look with a long, dramatic train, the veil is made from soft mesh and adorned with tiny polka dots for a contemporary twist on the traditional accessory. It is also cut with two tiers meaning that the shorter section can be pulled forward over the face as you walk down the aisle and raised during the ceremony.
Rixo skye silk satin nightdress: £275
At once stylish and effortless, a slip dress is a timeless choice for any bride who appreciates simple and sleek designs.
Described as a nightdress, we think this silk gown would make a great pared-back silhouette for your ceremony, as well as your wedding night. It features beautiful, embroidered detailing and has a flattering V-neckline, low back, empire waistline and A-line hip fit. Wear yours with modern metallic accessories to complete the look.
Rixo adeline silk jacquard jacket: £375
If you prefer to build you own look by mixing and matching separates, this silk jacket could be the one for you.
Beautifully cut from ivory satin with a collared V neckline, empire waist panel, button detailing on waist and along the slim sleeve cuffs, the jacket has been designed to be paired with Rixo’s simple slip skirt, joan (£350, Rixo.co.uk). However, we think it would look just as gorgeous layered over a slip dress or worn with a pair of wide-legged trousers.
Rixo crepe silk shift dress with feathers: £650
From Audrey Hepburn to Mia Farrow and Lily Allen, many stylish brides have chosen to go with a mini for their big day and it’s not hard to see why.
If you want to make a Sixties-inspired statement with a shorter hem, look no further than Rixo’s candice number which is sleeveless mini shift dress with a high collared neckline, closed back and fully feathered hemline. Designed in the brand’s ivory satin back silk crepe fabric, it’s an ideal choice for chic, city ceremony. If you prefer a more structured silhouette, Rixo suggests using its hermione scarf (£75, Rixo.co.uk) to nip in your waist.
Rixo frankie silk jumpsuit: £850
While opting for a jumpsuit is a bold choice, it’s also a super-versatile piece that exudes a sense of effortlessness every bride wants to embody on their big day.
If a traditional wedding dress isn’t for you, Rixo has got you covered with its frankie jumpsuit that has a high collared neckline, wide-legged trousers and relaxed fit. If that doesn’t already sound like the most comfortable bridal outfit, it’s also made in the brand’s super-soft satin back silk crepe 100 per cent silk fabric. Dress yours up with a statement pair of drop earrings or Rixo’s yara hairband (£75, Rixo.co.uk).
Rixo cordette silk maxi dress with lace ruffles: £975
Puffed sleeves have been enjoying their moment in the fashion spotlight for some time and now they’ve made their way into the world of weddings too.
A contemporary take on the over-the-top styles sported by brides in the 1980s, this dress is designed with a subtle round neck, empire line waist fit, short, frilled sleeves and a bias hip fit. Wear yours with a delicate pair of pearl drop earrings.
Rixo clementine silk jacquard maxi dress with train: £1,450
While this dress is the most expensive of the bunch, we highly recommend investing in it for your bag day, should your budget allow.
The gown epitomises Rixo’s retro aesthetic with a romantic rosebud jacquard pattern which enhances her vintage silhouette. Made from 100 per cent silk, the gown is designed with a round neckline, empire waist fit, closed back with silk-covered button detail running from nape to base of spine, stunning voluminous sleeves and a dramatic train. It doesn’t get more elegant than this.
