Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The closure of beauty salons, dry indoor air, long winter walks and intense at-home workouts are all recipes for rough, flaky feet and it’s safe to say that lockdown has left many of our tootsies looking a little worse for wear.
After months of being hidden away under thick, fluffy socks and slippers, it’s no surprise that they have gone neglected, with unsightly side effects ranging from skin dryness to calluses and even cracking.

But, this is where trusty foot balms come in. In the same way that a hydrating face mask injects your skin with a heavy dose of moisture, nourishing your feet is a sure-fire way to keep hard skin at bay and many also contain exfoliating ingredients, like glycolic and salicylic acid, that help slough away tough dry patches, leaving you with super-soft soles in a matter of days.
If you’re unsure where to start when it comes to looking for a cream that will do the job, let us point you in the direction of CCS’s cracked heel repair balm.
The formula has earned a 4.7-star rating on Amazon, with 8,000 glowing reviews that have propelled it to cult status among shoppers suffering from sore feet. And, the best part is that it costs just £5.66.
Customers love the balm so much that some have even gone as far as to call it “phenomenal” and a “must-have”, claiming that it transformed the appearance of their feet in just 48 hours.
“This is the best foot cream on the market for dry feet. I have tried several other brands but I always come back to this,” one person wrote, while another added: “It is a phenomenal cream! I have had quite bad feet since I can remember and after just two days I saw results. Literally cannot explain how good it is!”
So, if you’re looking to give your feet some TLC before sandal season stars, this could be the cream for you. Here’s everything you need to know about the CCS cracked heel repair balm.

If you’re looking for a solution to dry, damaged heels, this could be it.
The repair balm has been specially formulated to help soothe the most difficult case of cracked heels, containing 25 per cent urea – which the brand says it the body’s natural moisturiser – and a high concentration of vitamin E to keep feet soft and supply.
It also features lactic acid, which helps to gently exfoliate your feet by stimulating the skin’s shedding process and getting rid of dead skin cells, with brand claiming it works so well you won’t need to use a pumice.
The balm also works to protect your feet from further damage by strengthening the skin and shielding it with a non-greasy protective barrier.
For best results, the brand suggests applying the balm at least twice daily to clean, dry skin. If the skin on your feet is particular stubborn, you can also use the cream at night and cover feet with socks while you sleep.
While we can’t vouch for this exact product, the IndyBest team has put a host of other foot peels and scrubs to the test. In our round-up of the best ones, the Skinrepublic foot peel mask with foot socks (£6.59, Superdrug.com) won the top spot.
Made from a paper-like material, our reviewer said the socks worked so well that their skin began to shed so quickly they “felt like a snake”.
“Gross, yet very satisfying, dry skin gradually broke down and came off naturally, leaving skin smoother than it had been in years,” our reviewer said. “It did a stellar job too at tackling calluses, removing them completely after just a few days.”
