Fans of Pink were furious after they struggled to hear the US pop star because of noise from the other stages.

The Just Like A Pill singer was the headliner at Hylands Park in Chelmsford at the V Festival on Saturday.

Unhappy festival-goers took to social media to air their complaints after they claimed they had struggled to hear her, saying she had been drowned out by drum and bass act Rudimental.

Comments on Twitter included: “Pink sound is tragic”, while Rowan Routley tweeted that the pop singer “sounded a lot better during sound check yesterday”.

Nikkiey Jones posted: "worst festival yet spent a lot of money to see Pink sound was s*** drowned out by fairground and rudimental."

Weekend camping passes at the V Festival cost £189, while weekend only tickets sold for £165.

Pink’s performance was beset by technical errors when a firework stunt went wrong mid-performance.

The pop star made her entrance by flying onto a stage after being suspended by a crane. Part of the set caught alight but the flames were quickly extinguished by staff.

But the Some Girls singer continued to belt out her songs, as if nothing had happened.

The 37-year-old American singer-songwriter told the crowd that it had been ten years since she had last appeared at the V Festival.

The performance was also marred by the star forgetting the lyrics to her new song What About Us. Pink admitted she couldn’t remember the words.

She said: "Usually takes me about four years to learn a song. I wish I'd stop shaking thank you for having me 10 years later. I forgot so many words tonight."

The V Festival headliner made up for it by charming her fans with signature tunes Like A Pill and Don't Let Me Get Me, according to The List.

Dressed in baggy ripped denim, the star made an emotional plea to the crowd, saying: “I want to say thank you for having me back. I'm forever grateful for all the years and all the love."

A V Festival representative was contacted by The Independent for comment on the issues raised by fans.
