Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.

The Virgin Kitesurfing Armada Guinness World Record attempt for the ‘largest parade of kite surfers’ is now completely sold out but we are giving kitesurfing i readers the chance to win one of two group places.
Virgin Kite Surfing Armada 2014 will bring the kitesurfing community and spectators together for a fantastic two-day kitesurfing festival, featuring: international kite brands exhibiting the latest gear; pro kiter Q & A sessions; a big screen with live tracking of the kitesurfing and kite movie screenings; music, bars & entertainment; pro kiter demos; taster/beginner sessions; a family area and on-site camping and facilities.
Over the festival weekend there will be an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the 'Largest Parade of Kitesurfers' - set at last year’s Virgin Kitesurfing Armada with 318 kitesurfers. This year over 500 kitesurfers will join the Armada and ride together from Hayling Island to Pagham, 15 miles away, to become the new official World Record holders.
