Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Global Green USA has announced that it will host its seventh annual Pre-Oscar Party on March 3. Tickets are now available for the event, which will feature celebrity hosts Suzy Amis Cameron & James Cameron, Orlando Bloom, Neil Patrick Harris, and Salma Hayek, among many others.

Since 1994, Global Green has collaborated with the Hollywood community to raise global awareness of climate-change solutions. The organization is behind projects encouraging celebrities to drive green cars, build green homes and products, and vote for green political leaders.

Confirmed musical performers so far include Benji & Joel Madden of Good Charlotte and Mia Maestro. Other celebrities set to attend include photographer Sebastian Copeland, 2012 director Roland Emmerich, and actor Zachary Quinto. Among other features: the unveiling of a "green" Oscar dress created for Suzi Amis Cameron as part of the Red Carpet Green Dress design competition.

Called "Greener Cities for a Cooler Planet," the 2010 pre-Oscars event will be held at the Avalon Hollywood on Vine Street on Wednesday, March 3. Proceeds will benefit Global Green's many projects intended to create green communities.

Tickets are available to the general public at three levels: $75 for general admission, $250 including drink tickets and an "eco gift," and $1,000 for VIP privileges and entry to a post-event party.
