Asda recalls eco nappies after complaint
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Supermarket giant Asda recalled a brand of its ecologically friendly nappies today.
The move came after a customer complained about the quality of the store's Eco Nappies.
Customers who have bought them are being advised to stop using them immediately and return them to an Asda store for a full refund.
Dawn Welham, product safety director at Asda, said: "When it comes to baby products, we don't take chances.
"That's why, although we've only had one complaint about these Eco Nappies in the last two years, we've already made sure they've been taken off sale.
"Independent tests are under way to find out what happened but what is clear is that the issue is unique to these Eco Nappies, as they're constructed from completely different materials to all the others we offer.
"No other nappies from our other ranges are affected.
"In the meantime, we advise any parent who uses these nappies for their children to bring them back to store for a full refund, and we apologise for that inconvenience."
