Ellie Seymour is a freelance travel journalist and a regular contributor to Independent Travel since 2022. She gets excited about food, hotels, history, road trips, and off-beat story angles – like following a 450-mile tour of Louisiana’s gas stations, convenience stores and diners. She specialises mostly in the USA, as well as Brighton – where she’s based – and the surrounding region of Sussex. Ellie is obsessed with New York City having visited every year – sometimes twice – for the past 20 years. She has written for titles including Citizen Femme, The Guardian, The i Paper, JRNY Magazine, LoveEXPLORING and National Geographic Traveller Food. She’s the author of two travel guides, Secret Brighton: An Unusual Guide and Secret Sussex: An Unusual Guide and Grand Hotels of the World, a coffee-table read that tells the story of 40 of the world’s legendary hotels.
