Your support makes all the difference.At this year's 38th Annual International Emmy Awards on November 22, winners were announced in ten categories as well as two for Special Awards for excellence in television outside the US. This ceremony was hosted by actor Jason Priestley.
The awards gala featured presenters Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men and veteran actor Eli Wallach. It followed the weekend conference where more than 1,000 television professionals from 50 countries and the world's media outlets gathered last week in New York City for panels and speakers.
Simon Cowell, the former American Idol judge and "Got Talent" executive producer, was given the special 2010 International Emmy Founders Award. A surprise guest, Rupert Murdoch, the head of NewsCorp, did the honors, crediting Cowell with helping to make Fox Broadcasting number one.
Actor Alex Baldwin and comedian Jimmy Fallon presented the Directorate Award to Lorne Michaels, the Canadian creator and executive producer of the 35-year-old sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. The show, telecast in 130 countries, has produced stars including Will Farrell, Adam Sandler and Tina Fey.
UK productions dominated the winners, as usual, but this year other countries' productions made a stronger showing, taking half the prizes, including shows from South Korea, Israel, Romania, Argentina, and Portugal which won its first International Emmy.
