From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Part of the annual tradition of watching the telecast of the Super Bowl, the American football championship game set for Sunday, February 6, is the half-time entertainment and the amusing, clever and ridiculous commercials that are custom-made for the event.

This year, the half-time performers are the Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera sings the national anthem, but other musical artists will amuse the estimated 106 million viewers during the much-anticipated commercial breaks.

Eminem, Ozzy Osbourne and Justin Bieber will appear among the many ads during Super Bowl XLV. A clay-animated version of Eminem will hawk Lipton Brisk iced tea, revealing a peek into a day in the rapper's life. There's also a Lipton spot with Ozzy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZViEmNeBVEw

Teen phenom Justin Bieber also teams up with Ozzy and his celebrity wife Sharon, donning a spacesuit to promote Best Buy, the electronics retailer.

Besides beer and pizza spots, there are plenty of ads for automobiles, films, and web companies. Returning sponsors include CareerBuilder.com with its chimpanzees in suits and E*Trade's talking babies. E*Trade reported from a company-commissioned survey that 47 percent of Super Bowl viewers expected to communicate via social media or text message during the game.

Here are spots and teasers of some Super Bowl commercial highlights:
