The fourth episode of Broadchurch continued to confuse the Twittersphere

Now halfway through the series, elderly newsagent Jack Marshall has emerged as the prime suspect. But viewers thought the “old man” was too obvious to have been the killer.

Popular guesses this week included the vicar, Ellie Miller’s husband and the editor of the local paper.

Ladbrokes has revealed its odds for the killer, putting top suspect Jack Marshall a 1/2, Susan Wright at 3/1 and Rev Peter Coates at 6/1. DI Alec Hardy is the least likely choice with odds of 50/1, and DS Ellie Miller is on at 25/1, yet a few Tweeters thought she could be the suspect.
