From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It has gone on for what seems like a million years, but tonight the famous Chris Tarrant game show will finally draw to a close.
Since its first broadcast in 1999, Who Wants to Be A Millionaire has spawned 83 foreign language versions, an Oscar-winning film and countless unused board games.
But despite its 15-year run, only five contestants have ever won the million pound prize.
Some will remember there was a sixth millionaire, but his money was revoked after he was found to have cheated in a scandal that overshadowed the show in 2001.
The five contestants to have honestly made a million on the show include Judith Keppel in 2000, David Edwards in 2001, Robert Brydges in 2001, Pat Gibson in April 2004 and Ingram Wilcox in 2006.
Keppel was crowned the first winner of the show on 20 November 2000, and remains the only woman to have ever won Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in the UK.
Could you make it to one million pounds? See if you can answer Judith Keppel’s million-winning questions below:
