From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Episode three of Survivor’s season 41 ended with participant Brad Reese being voted off the Ua team.

The third episode, titled “My Million Dollar Mistake,” aired on Wednesday (6 October) night.

The description of the episode teased: “Castaways stumble upon a sneaky advantage that comes at a great risk. Also, truth is tested amongst castaways as mistakes are made.”

After Eric Abraham of Yase, Sara Wilson of Ua, and David Voce of Yase were voted off the island in the past two episodes, last night was no exception.

The new season of Survivor officially premiered on 22 September, with a new group of castaways heading to an island where they compete against each other in a series of challenges.

They must survive the challenges in order to win the $1m (£744,000) prize.

For this season, the competition series returned to Fiji, where it has been filmed several times before.

This season is taking place on the Mamanuca Islands, a volcanic archipelago and popular destination for tourists. Returning host Jeff Probst announced the location in March this year, at the same time that he announced the show’s return to production.

“Fiji has invited us back to their beautiful country to shoot season 41,” he said in a video shared on social media.

“We have all of our Covid protocols in place so that everybody in Fiji will remain safe, all of our crew will be safe and of course our players will be safe.”

Probst added: “I can’t remember a time when I’ve been this pumped to shoot Survivor, and I’ll you why: the past year has reminded me – and I hope it’s reminded you – that you got to live your life like it’s one big great adventure, and Survivor fulfils that. So I am thrilled to say I will see you on the island for Survivor 41. Let’s do it!”

Survivor airs on Wednesdays at 8pm Eastern and Pacific times on CBS in the US.
