Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. We've already had one surprise major actor pop up in Westworld season 2, with Giancarlo Esposito taking over as El Lazo, and in episode 9, 'Vanishing Point', we'll see another unannounced and unreported arrival.
Sela Ward, best known for her roles in House, Gone Girl, Independence Day: Resurgence and more is seen during a flashback waving at William at a party.
The trailer suggests that the episode will focus on William's wife Juliet, and reveal why she came to kill herself.
It's possible that Juliet has been recast with Ward, or that she plays a host version of her which William has made, perhaps to save face after his actions lead to her suicide.
We know William's daughter, Emily, blames her father for her mother's demise, and we appear to see a shot of a death scene in the trailer, a wrist extending from an overflowing bathtub.
"Tell me the truth, tell me one true thing," a woman is heard saying in the teaser, while William, perhaps responding, says: "No one else sees it. This thing in me. Even I didn't see it at first. Then one day it was there. This stain. Invisible to everyone. Except you.
Elsewhere in the episode, Teddy and Dolores will fight the Ghost Nation, who we've learned have been taking a different approach to retribution, and Ford will visit Maeve, though the over-the-shoulder shot at 0:49 in the trailer is probably of the version of Ford that has implanted in Bernard's brain.
Westworld's penultimate episode, 'Vanishing Point' will air on Sunday night on HBO in the US and through Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
