From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Jack Osbourne and his wife Lisa have announced she has suffered a "late-term miscarriage".

The star's wife posted a message on her website saying she had been "dreading this announcement".

She said: "Jack and I lost our baby boy last week. Having a late-term miscarriage is by far the hardest thing either of us have ever had to go through.

"We appreciate all of your prayers and ask for privacy and respect during this time. It's important to stay hopeful and optimistic through life's toughest moments.

"We never know why things like this happen. All we can do is trust in God and know he has a plan for our lives."

The couple, who have a daughter Pearl, married in Hawaii last year only weeks after Jack, the son of rocker Ozzy and wife Sharon, found he had developed multiple sclerosis.

His mother recently returned as a judge on ITV's The X Factor.
