WandaVision fans are still reeling from a revelation in the latest episode of the Disney+ show.

Those re-watching the fifth episode of the Marvel television series ahead of its next instalment should switch on the audio description.

It’s been highlighted by Reddit users that this setting makes the surprise ending seem even more groundbreaking thanks to the words used to describe the scene.

*Spoilers follow – you have been warned*

The latest episode of WandaVision saw the return of Wanda’s brother, Pietro Maximoff AKA Quicksilver – the character played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2014).

However, in Taylor-Johnson’s place was Evan Peters, the actor who played the same character in the X-Men franchise, which isn’t a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

His inclusion here marks a shocking crossover – and he is the first X-Men character to appear in the MCU following Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019.

The fact his appearance comes in Wanda’s constructed sitcom reality means the cameo make a little more sense, but it’s still shocking to see an actor reprise a non-MCU role in an MCU project (and there could be a lot more of those to come in Spider-Man 3).

The audio description hammers this point home. Click the English [Audio Description] button while watching the episode, and you’ll hear the following narration:

"Seen from behind, a man with bleached blond hair stands on the front step. In Westview, Wanda stares at the version of Pietro from the X-Men films.”

It’s worth noting that this wording might have been picked for clarity, but the mention of the X-Men films certainly feels like a deliberate move on Marvel’s part.

In short, anything is possible in the MCU from here on out.
