From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A 15-second teaser for AMC spin-off Fear the Walking Dead premiered during the fifth season finale of The Walking Dead.

The trailer left zombie fans hungry for more, but they will have to wait a few months longer for the prequel mini-series to premiere.

“I’m very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven’t scratched the surface yet when it comes to The Walking Dead,” said show creator Robert Kirkman.

The teaser made two things for certain: the pre-apocalypse setting is Los Angeles and the CDC is definitely covering up the zombie outbreak. The snippet of footage also confirms that the series does indeed start at the onset of a flu-like epidemic.

Fear the Walking Dead will centre on an unusual family unit led by House of Cards actress Kim Dickens and Gang Related actor Cliff Curtis. Their children will be played by Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Woods).

The six-episode freshman season will debut this summer and lead into the already announced sixth season of The Walking Dead.
