After doing a search around the perimeter of the Hilltop, Maggie, Michonne, Enid and Rosita come across a van parked on the open road - in it is a lady named Georgie who fans are convinced is based on a particular character from the comic book series.
Played by Jayne Atkinson (24, House of Cards), Georgie - suited and well-kept - tells Maggie she wants to trade knowledge and suggests she comes from a community comprised of decent people who want to build a future in the apocalypse.
Many - including Atkinson - believe the character's inspiration could be Pamela Milton, a rather new addition to Robert Kirkman's comics.
“You know, they keep everything very close to the chest. Scott [Gimple] keeps everything close to the chest,” Atkinson told ComicBook.com. “And so basically when I spoke with him, he gave me a quiet overview of the kind of person she was, but no backstory, no front story. But he gave me enough to create, I think, a very dynamic and interesting person. And of course, the way it was written.”
For those wondering, Pamela has only just been introduced to the show's source material making Georgie's introduction a surprise. She is essentially a Governor (no relation) of a settlement known as The Commonwealth and is poised to become a major player in a new storyline arc named The New World Order.
Based in Ohio, the Commonwealth is home to over 50,000 people - a full-sized community with jobs, theatre and military force. The series may be about to get even bigger than you imagined.
In Georgie's own words to Maggie: “I’ll be back. Maybe not for a while, but I will. And by then I expect great things.”
The Walking Dead season 8 continues on AMC every Sunday with the UK premiere arriving the next evening on FOX as well as being available to stream on NOW TV.
