From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Actor Dani Harmer has given fans an update on Tracy Beaker ahead of the forthcoming reboot, My Mum Tracy Beaker.

Harmer played the lead role in the popular CBBC series The Story of Tracy Beaker, which ran from 2002 to 2005.

Along with other members of the series’ cast, Harmer is set to return for the new drama, based on Jacqueline Wilson’s 2018 sequel book.

Speaking about the character, Harmer said (per Tyla): “Now she's in her thirties and she's a mum, so it's been really cool for me because like everyone else, I really wanted to know what happened next and where Tracy's journey is going to take her.”

“I think everyone is going to be really pleased seeing how Tracy's progressed and what a great mum she is.”

In a separate interview with the Radio Times, Harmer addressed her excitement about reprising the beloved character, saying it was “so nice” to reunite with her former co-stars.

“I just wish we hadn’t been in the middle of a pandemic because we couldn’t hug anyone,” she said. “So it was really hard.”

My Mum Tracy Beaker will debut on CBBC and iPlayer on 12 February.
