From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Top Gear and EastEnders will resume filming in June, according to the BBC.

Production on the popular series is currently on hold as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The BBC confirmed it would use “strictly limited” crews and stick to government guidelines when filming resumes.

Charlotte Moore, the BBC’s director of content, said: “We’re also exploring ways to re-start filming on more dramas and other major BBC shows as soon as possible.

“We’ve been looking very carefully at how we can safely put some of our shows back into production,” she continued, “and I’m pleased to announce that we plan to begin filming again on both EastEnders and Top Gear by the end of next month.

“Cast members will do their own hair and make-up. Social distancing measures will be in place.”

Since lockdown began, the BBC has only been producing one drama series, a new version of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads.

The series is being filmed by skeleton crews on the sets of EastEnders and Holby City.

Moore said that the Talking Heads project was “showing what’s possible under Covid-19 restrictions”.
