When This Is England '90 ended last year, its writer Shane Meadows promisingly described the closure as "a full stop written in pencil" - but now one of the show's stars has suggested that a continuation probably won't happen.
Michael Socha, whose character Harvey rose in prominence throughout each This Is England series, told Digital Spy that he thinks the series has drawn to a complete close.
"I don't think Shane will do another one; 'never say never,' he says, but I think from what I gather, there ain't that much more to tell. I think the story's ended."
Doing the rounds promoting his new E4 series The Aliens, Socha elaborated: "If Shane was to pick it up in a few years, I know it'd be good. But he's not stupid - he's very aware of what he's putting out and when he should stop."
Reflecting upon his time filming the final series, Socha admitted just how far he was willing to go for the role.
"I kicked a table full of glass - it was f*cking real glass... It's physical man.
"There's not many jobs that I would put my body on the line for. But with that, you give everything, because you know you're part of something very f**king incredible."
This Is England began life as a film before Meadows reunited the gang for a trilogy of TV series commencing with This Is England '86 in 2011; '88 followed in 2012 before last year's apparent swansong.
The Aliens begins airing tonight (8 March) on E4 from 9 PM.
