Played by Kate McKinnon, the show brought Theresa May onto Weekend Update to add some commentary to her response to Donald Trump retweeting several inaccurate, anti-Muslim videos posted by Jayda Fransen, leader of the far-right group Britain First. "I am very clear that retweeting Britain First was the wrong thing to do," she said in a press conference at the time.
Though McKinnon's accent is bound to come under scrutiny by Brits, the actor at least nailed May's robotic, stilted delivery, as she awkwardly stated: "The British people know I can give it as good as I get. I'm not afraid of a little social media fisticuffs."
Claiming she put Trump "on blast", she described her response as "savage", also referencing the fact Trump fired back at the PM by tagging the wrong Theresa May (actually a woman from Bognor) and writing, "Don't focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom. We are doing just fine!"
May also declared she'd take aim at a few other world leaders: asking Kim Jong-Un, "Do grow up. #Please" and sending Vladimir Putin a simple side-eye emoji. Even her own people aren't safe, writing to Prince Harry, "congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. But check it. She outcho league. You look like Ed Sheeran minus the abilities. Nevertheless, would bang."
