From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

You can expect a very cinematic episode of The Walking Dead next week that takes its time to detail its brutality.

Episode 4, going out in the US on 13 November and in the UK the following day, will reportedly be 85 minutes long - just five minutes shy of a traditional film feature length.

There must be good reason for this, and most likely it means more death is on the way.

The synopsis for the episode, titled 'Service', isn't particularly telling: 'The remaining members of the group try to keep it together in Alexandria; they receive a sobering visit', but the one for episode 5 is: 'Saddled with grief and surrounded by enemies, members of the group try to find safety at the Hilltop before it's too late.'

Saddled with grief. Does this mean Rick and the gang will have yet another loss to grieve?

Possibly, and the rumour is it may be Eugene, but Abraham actor Michael Cudlitz can't see Negan going on another rampage.

When we asked him if he thinks Negan is still out for blood, he said: "I think he’s made his point. I don’t know if there’s anything to be gained by staying in that mode."

The Walking Dead airs on Sunday nights at 9/8c on AMC in the US, and on Monday nights at 9pm on FOX in the UK.
