The Walking Dead season 6 finale: Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan 'didn't know' about show's cliffhanger

Your support makes all the difference.Even if you're not a fan of The Walking Dead, you've probably heard that its latest season ended on a massive cliffhanger.
Viewers, however, are currently battling with their emotions following the introduction of The Saviours leader Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) who bludgeoned a beloved character to death in a moment the producers opted to shroud in agonising secrecy before ending the episode.
It turns out that the cliffhanger was a shock to actor Morgan too.
Speaking to Vulture, he revealed: "I didn't know it was going to be a cliffhanger until I watched the show."
"That was done in my world. I don't know if any of the cast knew how exactly it was going to end, which is what caused a lot of the uncertainty and emotion going on."
"I got the script two days before I shot it," Morgan continued. "I only got Negan's stuff. I didn't even get the full script."
Talking about his experiences filming his ten-minute monologue, he said: "It was very emotional. A couple of them didn't make eye contact with me until the end of the second night. A couple of them embraced me immediately after we filmed all night."
It turns out no other actor was on-set for the very final moment.
Executive producer Greg Nicotero told EW: "We didn’t have anybody there because we didn’t want even somebody on the crew or somebody there to go 'Oh I get it, I know what’s going to happen.' So I think they were all gone. We built a little rig for Jeffery to hit so that there would be impact with the baseball bat."
"We have not filmed [the ending] and I don't know if the person knows yet or not," he went on to tell The Hollywood Reporter.
With seven months to go until the seventh season begins, Morgan said: "We will pick up directly from what we saw last night. Season seven is going to pick up right where we left off. So you’re going to see who’s on the end of that bat."
Producers of the show have offered hints at what fans can expect from the upcoming seventh season.
