From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Rita Ora will replace Kylie Minogue as a coach on The Voice, the BBC has confirmed.

The “Hot Right Now” singer, who has briefly appeared as a guest judge on The X Factor, joins returning coaches Ricky Wilson, Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones.

The Kosovan-born singer, 23, will take on her new role in the spinning red chair next month when filming on the blind auditions begins.

Ora said: “So excited to be part of, and for my team to win, The Voice this series. Let’s have some fun, Will.i.am, Tom and Ricky.

“I'm really looking forward to the blind auditions - and spinning in my big red chair. Excited.”

Will.i.am, who returns for a fourth series, said he was looking forward to working with the “sweet, spicy and sassy” Ora, adding she would be a “great addition to the coaches’ team.”

Ora, who is currently in the charts with her collaboration with Iggy Azalea on “Black Widow”, is due to make her film debut next year in Fifty Shades of Grey, which will be released in February.

The Voice returns to BBC One in January 2015.
