Your support makes all the difference.The cult musical is returning to screens thanks to the phenomenal talent of Orange is the New Black's Laverne Cox, taking over Tim Curry's iconic role as the ghoulishly delightful Frank-N-Furter.
And though the first trailer for Fox's TV production of the show isn't giving much away, Cox already seems to be having a ball with the part; relishing such delicious lines as, "It's not easy having a good time!"
Of course, there's always a little trepidation when it comes to revisiting a property as iconic as The Rocky Horror Picture Show; but the wild success of the 1975 film shouldn't override the fact that this was originally a stage production, and thus far more open to numerous interpretations and revivals.
Indeed, the cast is heavy with Broadway and musical stars: Heathers: The Musical's Ryan McCartan and Nickelodeon's Victoria Justice take on Brad and Janet, Penny Dreadful's Reeve Carney plays Riff Raff, singer Christina Milian takes on Magenta, and Wicked's Annaleigh Ashford plays Columbia. Rocker Adam Lambert plays Eddie, with Tim Curry himself making an appearance as the Criminologist.
The new take forms part of a blossoming TV trend for splashy broadcast musical productions, with FOX's recent Grease: Live starring Carly Rae Jepsen, Aaron Tveit, and a scene-stealing Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo.
No official date for The Rocky Horror Picture Show has been announced, though the trailer promises it will air around Halloween.
