From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Garnering a cult fan base since it began in 2014, The Leftovers - from Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta - is ending on a high having earned mass critical acclaim for the final run of episodes which have been among some of the greatest television this century has seen.
Don't go expecting answers: Lindelof himself has been adamant from the very start that the mystery surrounding the event at the show's centre - the disappearance of 2% of the world's population into thin air - will not be answered. the series will undoubtedly end int he same way the show has bee continuing these past few years - providing satisfying yet hugely emotional conclusions for the central characters.
These include Kevin Garvey - Justin Theroux's long-suffering protagonist as well as Christopher Eccleston's Reverend Matt Jamison.
One character who we'll especially get the opportunity to say goodbye to is Nora Durst who has been played to impeccable degrees by Carrie Coon since the show's very first episode. Titled, 'The Book of Nora,' the episode will see the character continue in her quest to be reunited with her family who all disappeared in the Sudden Departure by entering a machine that purports to zap her to... well, who knows?
The Leftovers season three concludes on HBO this Sunday (4 June) and all episodes will ve available to watch in the UK on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV from 4 July.
