From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Though she's quit The Great British Bake Off following its move to Channel 4, Berry will return as a judge on the programme's American spin-off, also created by Love Productions. My Big Fat Greek Wedding's Nia Vardalos and husband Ian Gomez also return as the show's hosts.
The Great American Baking Show returns to ABC in the US, seeing ten all-new bakers from across the country battle it out across eight themed episodes and 24 challenges, including the likes of 'Cake Week' and 'Cookie Week'.
The new season will commence with a two-hour premiere episode on Thursday, 1 December at 9PM EST; unfortunately, the show won't be airing anywhere in the UK.
The first Signature Bake will see competitors tasked with making bundt cake inspired by winter flavours, followed by an apple almond cake Technical Challenge. The Showstopper Bake will then see the bakers construct fantastical, multi-tiered holiday-themed cakes.
Its second hour will see the episode set bar cookies as its Signature Challenge, a biscotti Technical Challenge, and 3D Iced Cookie scenes as its Showstopper Bake.
UK viewers, however, haven't quite seen the last of Berry yet: she'll return for Bake Off's Christmas special, alongside fronting two new shows from the BBC: Mary Berry's Secrets From Britain's Great Houses and cooking show Mary Berry Everyday.
