Jeremy Clarkson was visibly emotional during the final episode of The Grand Tour's third series.
“The show as you know it is ending,” the former Top Gear host told a studio audience.
Amazon previously announced that Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May's programme will return, but in a different format and without the same studio tent.
Instead, the fourth series will consist of multiple road trip specials, rather than sequential, studio-based episodes.
“Tell you what though, we haven’t had some laughs,” Clarkson said. “In all of the years we’ve worked together, every single time one of us fell over, there was never any sympathy. We just burst into laughter straight away.”
The 59-year-old added that, although they are upset they are shelving the format, they are looking forward to more "big adventures" and specials.
“There is still so much of the world we haven’t been to,” Hammond added, to which Clarkson said: “So many people I haven’t insulted!”
May joked: “So many cars [Hammond] hasn’t crashed!”
Clarkson finished by saying: "Although this is gone, The Grand Tour goes on... So while it's not goodbye from us, it is goodbye from this. Anyone want to buy a tent?"
Those in the audience included Clarkson's daughters and Hammond's family, according to Radio Times.
