Netflix has announced who will play Margaret Thatcher in a future season of The Crown.

Britain’s first female Prime Minister will appear in forthcoming episodes as the series enters its next era, and she will be portrayed by Gillian Anderson.

According to The Daily Beast, the former X-Files star will join Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham Carter and Tobias Menzies when the series reaches the late 1970s; Thatcher’s tenures as PM ran from 1979 to 1990, so it’s strongly expected that Anderson won’t appear until the fourth season.

Netflix has previously announced it is filming the third and fourth seasons back-to-back.

Josh O’Connor will play Prince Charles while it’s unknown who’ll portray Princess Diana. She’s set to appear toward the end of the season. You can find a list of who’s playing who here.

Anderson can currently be seen in comedy-drama Sex Education, which has racked up impressive viewing figures since beginning on Netflix earlier this month.

The Crown will return later this year.
