From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Saffron Barker is the latest celebrity to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2019.

The YouTuber and her professional partner AJ Pritchard found themselves in the bottom two with actor Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden.

All four judges – Shirley Ballas, Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse – chose to save Zeroual and Dowden.

This weekend six remaining celebrity couples took to the dance floor for Strictly’s tenth live show, having returned to Elstree after last week’s Blackpool special.

Barker’s last performance was a Samba to “Walking On Sunshine” by Take Me To Rio Collective.

She said: “I’ve had the absolute time of my life and it’s all down to him. It’s been amazing. I’d like to thank AJ so much, when I look at what I was like on week one I was so embarrassed and shy. He’s really taken me out of my shell. Thank you so much for everything.”

Sunday’s results show opened with a special performance from opera star Andrea Bocelli.

The remaining five couples will compete next week when Strictly Come Dancing returns for the musical special on Saturday 30 November at 7.10pm on BBC1.
