Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left feeling tense after a backflip went awry.

EastEnders star Maisie Smith performed a salsa on the BBC competition, and gave it her all after landing in the bottom two last weekend.

In the daring performance alongside her dance partner Gorka Marquez, she performed a backflip.

After pulling the move off, which left viewers holding their breath, Smith stumbled after Marquez failed to catch her correctly.

The judges picked up on the error, but put the blame on the professional..

After the performance, Craig Revel Horwood said: "It was a bit unfortunate about the bad landing, but I’m blaming your partner."

One viewer commented on the mistake on Twitter, writing: “Yes, Maisie did slip. Apparently, it was because of Gorka. Maybe she is feeling the pressure because of being in the bottom two last week.”

However, the majority of fans were were furious with the judges for underscoring the actor due to Marquez’s error.

“Maisie landed the lift – not Gorka," one person wrote, adding: "So cross with the judges.”
