Craig Revel Horwood took a dig at Anton du Beke during Saturday (28 October) night’s Strictly Come Dancing live show.

Having stepped in for judge Motsi Mabuse during the previous two weeks of Strictly, professional dancer Du Beke returned to his regular role during this week’s show as he sat in the audience with his fellow dancers to cheer on the contestants.

Following a Jive by frontrunners Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse, Horwood criticised the routine, describing it as “a bit stompy. He was then met with boos from the other dancers.

“Is that Anton booing from the cheap seats?” Horwood joked. “Sorry Anton, but you’re no longer up here.”

Like the contestants, Strictly’s viewers found the scene hilarious, with one commenting: “Craig v Anton is the highlight of #Strictly for me tonight. Very funny!”

“God I loved Craig’s Anton shade,” another commented.

Du Beke is Strictly’s longest serving professional dancer, having appeared on the show since it first began in 2004. This year he was paired with politician Jacqui Smith and was the first to be eliminated from the competition.

Saturday’s episode of the dancing competition saw HRVY and Janette Manrara score the first 30 of the season for their Street/Commercial routine to Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars”.

At the bottom of the leaderboard were Clara Amfo and Aljaž Škorjanec, whose Jive routine contained a number of unfortunate mistakes. “This week actually is your dance, it just went horribly wrong sadly,” Horwood told the pair.

Strictly Come Dancing returns tonight at 7.25pm on BBC One.
