From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The BBC has announced the line-up for this year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, featuring Rochelle Humes from girl band The Saturdays and radio DJ Sara Cox.

Fans of the show, which beat the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special in Saturday night's ratings war, will be excited to hear six new celebrities will be donning their sequins for the holiday edition.

West End singing star Elaine Paige, EastEnders' actor Ricky Norwood, comedian and West End performer Rufus Hound and singer Matt Goss will complete the line-up.

Rochelle is no stranger to Strictly, having competed for 2010's Children in Need against former champion Harry Judd from McFly.

Rufus famously morphed into Cheryl Cole for an entertaining performance of her "Fight For This Love" routine on Let's Dance for Comic Relief, also in 2010.

Professional dancers Ian Waite, Pasha Kovalev and Robin Windsor will partner Rochelle, Elaine and Sara respectively, while Aliona Vilani, Flavia Cacace and Janette Manrara will tutor Matt, Rufus and Ricky.

Hosts Sir Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly will return to present with expert judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood on side.

All six couples will perform a festive dance in a battle to be crowned 2013 Christmas champions and lift the silver star trophy.

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special will air on Christmas Day on BBC One.
