The actress and professional partner Brendan Cole failed to secure a place in next week's quarter final after judges chose to save reality television star Mark Wright and his professional partner, Karen Hauer, in tonight's episode.
After the combined judges’ and viewers’ votes put Sunetra and Brendon in the bottom two for the third time, the pair danced their Rumba to “Girl From Ipanema” in a bid to reach the next stage in the competition.
But judges Craig Revel-Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli voted unanimously to save Mark and Karen who danced their Salsa to Elvis Presley’s “Viva Las Vegas”. Head judge Len Goodman, whose vote didn’t need to be cast, said he too would have saved the duo.
“It’s been such a once in a life time opportunity to be able to do this,” Sunetra said. I’d like to thank Brendan for being just so committed and understanding, and such a natural dancer this guy – you’ve been great.”
Brendan said: “She was a dancer from the beginning, I am extremely proud of her. You should be very proud of yourself to get this far. It’s no mean feat!”
The Only Way Is Essex star Mark and Karen will take part in next week’s “Walzathon” where all the remaining couples take to the floor to fight for additional points.
Tonight’s opened with Irish dancing star Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance troupe. It also featured Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra who teamed up with Alfie Boe to perform a classic Italian track for the professionals to perform to.
Strictly Come Dancing the quarter finals is next Saturday 6 December at 7pm on BBC One. The results show will be broadcast the following night at at 7.20pm.
