From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The TV presenter is known for shows such as I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here Now!, The Xtra Factor and Gladiators. She once dated One Direction's Harry Styles.
Flack revealed her exciting news live on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show this morning while chatting with host Scott Mills, who confirmed earlier this week that he too would be donning some glitzy suits to dance in the BBC competition.
“Ever since I was a presenter on CBBC and used to see the Strictly judges walking around the Television Centre I have wanted to be on the show,” Flack said.
“I am so excited to get started and I just want to get through the first dance with no mistakes. Plus I really want to master my ‘dance face’!”
Flack and Mills will join a host of other famous faces on the popular show, including Frankie Bridge from The Saturdays, tennis player Andy Murray’s mum Judy, Blue singer Simon Webbe, TOWIE star Mark Wright, pop star Pixie Lott and former rugby international Thom Evans.
The final three contestants will be revealed live on The One Show on Friday 29 August.
