From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The grand sparkling final of Strictly Come Dancing 2013 is nearing ever closer.

So, while celebrity competitors are busy perfecting their Jives, Sambas, Foxtrots and more ahead of Saturday's semi-final, it is time to take a nostalgic look back through those iconic red show curtains.

From newsreader Natasha Kaplinksy becoming the first contestant to lift the much sought-after Glitter Ball Trophy in 2004 to Olympic gymnast Louis Smith's triumphant season last year, who has cemented their place in Strictly champion history?

Last Sunday saw Hollyoaks' Ashley Tayor Dawson and his dance partner Ola Jordan voted off the show, after the pair lost out to Casualty actor Patrick Robinson and his Rumba to Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man".

Model Abbey Clancy, former Coronation Street actress Natalie Gumede, pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor and BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid will join Robinson for the semi-final this weekend.
