Season 2 recently arrived on the streaming service reuniting fans with its beloved characters played by Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour.
A scene featured in the finale saw Chief Jim Hopper (Harbour) discovering a wounded Dr. Owens (Paul Reiser) in a stairwell.
Insider reports that fans' attention has been brought to the blood-smeared handrail for the sole reason it places the location as exactly the same stairwell Hopper was seen crying on following the death of his daughter Sara in a flashback from the show's first season.
It seems that Sara died in Hawkins Laboratory - a revelation that Harbour himself has confirmed.
“Yes, it is the same location. So that's interesting. Or it's a similar location,” he told Insider.
He added: “There is a connection there perhaps that we may go into further down the line. These are little things that highlight mysteries that I don't want to give too much away from but I don't think anything is done randomly in this show. These things (are) something that will pay off in some way.”
It seems the mystery surrounding Sara's death, while only subtly referenced in season 2, will be something picked up on in future episodes.
Eagle-eyed viewers recently noticed an emotional detail relating to the hairband belonging to Hopper's late daughter in the season 2 finale.
