Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

There are few things as painful as being encouraged into a photograph - that last second ‘go on, you join them’ gesture.

Larry David showed us the appropriate way to react at the weekend though, when Julia Louis Dreyfuss and Leslie Jones posed for a selfie as the credits rolled on SNL.

David was invited in, but just sorted of shrugged, said “Ehh” and continued chewing gum.

You could quite easily imagine the moment being mined for a Curb narrative, in which Larry offends a co-star by being unbendingly unwilling to pose with them.

Speaking of Curb Your Enthusiasm, David apparently still has plans for another season.

At a Broadway premiere last year, ”[He told me,] 'Do you know what this is? This is the next season notebook'," HBO president Michael Lombardo recounted.

"I don't think it's out of his system," Lombardo added. "When he has something to say, he will come back.”

"I certainly see this as a continuing dialogue with him - a long one, but a continuing one."
