However, many fans of the series are unhappy with the way the series has been presented – specifically, the way that older episodes have been cropped and distorted to fit the wider HD aspect ratio.
More than just appearing unsightly, the alterations are accused of actually obscuring or completely cutting out the series’ visual jokes altogether in some instances.
One Twitter user wrote: “Appears @DisneyPlusUK still haven’t sorted The Simpsons‘ aspect ratio issue everywhere else has experienced for months. I mean, it’s not that hard to release content as it was originally created, COME ON...”
Another wrote: “Disney+ off to a good start by making classic Simpsons unwatchable.”

Similar complaints emerged when Disney+ first launched in the US last year; Disney responded by saying that the series would be made available to stream in its original aspect ratio in “early 2020”.
It is expected that the UK will also receive the option to view The Simpsons in its classic aspect ratio in the coming months.
The HD remaster was originally undertaken by Fox, before the company was bought by Disney.
The Simpsons is just one of several beloved properties that have now been made available to stream in the UK, including the Star Wars saga and the Pixar animated films.
