From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina), Nate Richert (Harvey), Caroline Rhea (Aunt Hilda) and Beth Broderick (Aunt Zelda) were all brought together by the streaming service to offer their “best witches” to the stars of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
“I just wanted to send my ‘best witches’ to Kiernan Shipka — aka the new Sabrina Spellman,” Hart — who played Sabrina over seven seasons on the ABC sitcom, which ran from 1996 to 2003, said.
“By the way, from one Sabrina to the other, if you’re ever given a choice between a broom and a vacuum, choose the vacuum.”
Richert also had a message for his successor, Ross Lynch: “I hear the new Sabrina is scarier and pretty damn twisted. I’m rooting for you, buddy. Stay alive!”
Hilda also wished “best witches” to the new Aunt Hilda, Lucy Davis, with Broderick also giving her support to Miranda Otto.
“From our coven to yours, best witches,” the cast say at the end. Watch below.
