From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The TV personality, who last year appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, is the host of How’s Your Head, Hun?, a TV filmed by and starring her family during coronavirus lockdown.
In a teaser clip shared on her Instagram, Visage is seen welcoming the cameras into her Los Angeles home in a Union Jack jumper, with the following compilation showing clips involving her husband David Case and younger daughter Lola.
The opening episode, which is released on Tuesday 16 May, will feature guest appearances from Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall, This Morning’s Dr. Ranj Singh and Susannah Constantine.
How’s Your Head, Hun? promises to give audiences a look into the glamorous judge’s normal family life, with episodes dropping weekly on BBC iPlayer and on subscription service WOW Presents Plus internationally.
Speaking about the show’s launch, Visage said: “I am SO excited to give everyone’s anxiety and worry a rest with How’s Your Head, Hun? When you see how quarantine life is with MY family and friends, we will all be laughing together! Get ready!”
Visage serves as a regular judge on both the US Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, the latter of which first aired in 2019.
