Rugrats could be your next favourite 90s TV show to get a revival

With Hey! Arnold's official comeback already on the horizon, it was only a matter of time before Nickelodeon would turn its gaze to such a beloved '90s show as Rugrats.

Speaking at a New York Comic Con event (via Entertainment Weekly), Nickelodeon's senior vice president for original movies, Michael Sammaciccia, revealed plans to revive a whole host of nostalgic content from the 1990s; including the named likes of Legends of the Hidden Temple and Rocko's Modern Life receiving TV movies.

He was then queried as to Rugrats' chances of making a return to the network; to which he answered, "What’s happening with [Legends of the Hidden Temple] is that it’s allowing Nickelodeon to look at the rich library they have, and not just Rugrats. All of them are being considered."

If Rugrats does return, it will likely take the same form as the rest of its 90s revivals and arrive as a TV movie. The show already received a trilogy of released films: 1998's The Rugrats Movie, 2000's Rugrats in Paris: The Movie, and 2003's The Wild Thornberrys crossover, Rugrats Go Wild.

Fans may also remember the surprisingly long-lived spin-off All Grown Up!, which ran for five seasons between 2003 and 2008; taking place about ten years after the original series was set.
