From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Julia Stiles (the Bourne franchise) will star in the lead role as Georgina Clios, a newlywed who must protect herself when shocking secrets about her billionaire husband come to surface after he's killed in a mysterious yacht explosion.
Set in the exotic Côte d'Azur, Riviera comes from the Oscar-winning writer and director Neil Jordan (Interview with the Vampire, The Crying Game) whose most recent TV project was The Borgias.
The ten-part series also stars Hustle actor Adrian Lester, Anthony LaPaglia, Phil Davis and Iwan Rheon who played the villainous Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones.
Speaking about the drama, Stiles - who also memorably starred in teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About You - said: “I think 'a sunny place for shady people' is a great way to describe this show. While this world is seemingly very glamorous, opulent and beautiful, all is not what it seems and that is echoed in our main characters.”
All episodes of Riviera will be available from 15 June in the UK exclusively, on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
