The Hollywood star was sharing a story about Steven Spielberg, who directed Dreyfuss in films including Close Encounters of the Third Kind, when he said the word “bulls***”
Referring to his new film Astronaut, Dreyfuss said: “Steven Spielberg said later that had he been married with kids he would not have had the ending that we had and I say to that, ‘bulls***’.”
Hosts Amol Rajan and Angela Scanlon quickly backpedalled, telling the actor he couldn’t say that word and apologising on his behalf.
“We’re not actually allowed to use that language at this time so we have got to apologise for that,” Rajan said.
Dreyfuss, ever the professional, turned the whole thing into a joke. He quipped: “Oh I’m terribly sorry. I’m more sorry than they are because I get to go home, they’re going to get fired.”
You can watch the moment below:
The interview soon descended into chaos after he began reading out Rajan’s auto-cue at the same time.
