Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, the beloved duo of TV presenters known as Richard and Judy, are set to return to TV screens in May with a new five-part series.

The former This Morning presenters will host Richard & Judy: Keep Reading and Carry On, which will broadcast on Channel 4.

Filmed from their own homes while under lockdown, the series will see Madeley and Finnigan interview authors and celebrities, discussing their favourite recent books and new releases.

Madeley said: “It is no secret that Judy and I are avid readers and we are excited to return to Channel 4 to share what we love with viewers."

“Books can transport you to incredible places from the comfort of your sofa and so there is no better time to share our top picks for lockdown reads and hear from viewers, celebrities and authors about the books that have helped them whilst staying at home," added Finnigan.

The pair hosted This Morning from 1988 to 2001, after which they presented the daily chat show Richard & Judy until 2009.

Richard & Judy: Keep Reading and Carry On will begin at 5.30pm on Monday, 4 May and will air over the course of a week.
