From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Daniel Craig and Sir Roger Moore will be starring together in a one-off Comic Relief sketch promising to reveal the “biggest Bond secret yet”.

The past and present 007s will be joined by Spectre cast members Ben Whishaw (Q), Rory Kinnear (Chief of Staff) and Naomie Harris (Moneypenny) for the mockumentary being shown on Face the Funny tonight.

Sir Roger said: “I think viewers will most enjoy seeing that old Bonds never die.”

Viewers will be left “shaken and stirred” by the sketch, which includes James Bond director Sam Mendes and producer Michael G. Wilson.

Whishaw said he was thrilled to be involved, adding: “When I first saw the script, I was returning home from the set and it really made me laugh out loud.”

Written by David Walliams and the Dawson Brothers, the sketch will reveal a “bombshell set to shock the world” about the spy.

Mendes said: “I decided to take part in this sketch because the work Comic Relief undertakes, especially in West Africa, for people whose suffering is beyond our comprehension is truly exceptional.

“Any help I can offer, even in the smallest of ways, is a privilege."

Behind the Bond will be part of tonight’s Red Nose Day evening of entertainment from the London Palladium.

The star-studded evening will be hosted by presenters including John Bishop, Russell Brand and Lenny Henry, showing sketches from some of British comedy’s most famous faces.

Professor Stephen Hawking is joining special Little Britain segment with Walliams, while Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will be judged in a mock talent show by Miranda Hart and Stephen Fry.

Dawn French will be heading a Vicar of Dibley sketch and Rowan Atkinson will be returning as Mr Bean.
