From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Rebekah Vardy has been announced as the ninth celebrity contestant to feature on the forthcoming series of Dancing on Ice.

The hit ITV dance competition revealed the news earlier this morning (29 September).

“I'm so ready for the sequins and full glam squad,” said the TV personality, who is married to Leicester City and ex-England footballer Jamie Vardy

“After months of lockdown, it'll be nice to get the glam on.”

Vardy has previously appeared on the 2017 series of ITV’s jungle-based reality contest I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she disclosed that she has in fact had prior experience of ice skating.

“My dad taught me how to stand up on a pair of skates at least when I was about 7 years old,” she said. “We used to go skating a lot when he used to pick us up after my mum and dad split up. We used to go and stay with him for the weekend.

“He used to take us to the local ice rink, so it's a really fun family thing for us to have done together. I'm really excited, actually.”

Vardy will join fellow contestants Myleene Klass, Joe-Warren Plant, Denise van Outen, Faye Brookes, Jason Donovan, Sonny Jay, Graham Bell, and Colin Jackson on the show’s roster.

Dancing on Ice is expected to return next year.
